About the University

St. George's University School of Medicine is a medical school located in Grenada, West Indies. It was established in 1976 and is one of the largest international medical schools in the world, with over 18,000 graduates practicing in the US and around the globe.

 

The School of Medicine offers a four-year Doctor of Medicine (MD) program, which is accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP) and recognized by the US Department of Education. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for medical licensure exams in the US, Canada, and other countries.

The school also offers a range of postgraduate medical programs, including clinical rotations and residency placements in various specialties in affiliated hospitals and clinics in the US and UK.

St. George's University School of Medicine is known for its diverse student population, with students from over 140 countries. The faculty is also diverse and includes many internationally trained physicians and researchers. 7-Year MD Pathway

The seven–year Doctor of Medicine pathway is designed for students who have secondary school credentials who need to study a complete course in the foundation sciences before beginning the medical degree program. This pathway is specifically tailored for students who have secondary school credentials.

  • 2 years of clinical training in affiliated hospitals in the US or UK

  • Academic:

    • IGCSE/O-Level/SPM: B or better in minimum 6 subjects, which include Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics, and English

  • English Proficiency (IELTS): 7.0 on each component​

The six-year Doctor of Medicine preclinical pathway at SGU provides foundation sciences necessary for mastering the basic and clinical sciences phases of the program later in the MD curriculum. This pathway is specifically tailored for students with AS Levels (Advanced Subsidiary Levels), and Australian Matriculation Qualifications.
