Established in 1936, Columbia College proudly serves as one of Canada’s longest established international not-for-profit colleges. Thousands of Canadian and international students have completed their qualifications at Columbia College and used these as a platform for successful university careers.

Columbia College is an independent charity that offers first and second-year university level courses that can lead to a Columbia College Associate Degree and are fully transferable to local universities. Columbia College also offers High School programs, including a British Columbia Ministry of Education Certified Senior Secondary Program and an English for Academic Purposes Program that is accredited by Languages Canada.

Senior Secondary (Grade 10, 11 & 12)

This program is certified by the BC Ministry of Education and fully conforms to the ministry’s requirements. Successful graduates will receive a BC Certificate of Graduation (Dogwood Diploma), which is the same credential offered by all public high schools in BC. This is a requirement for direct entry to a Canadian university. Literacy and numeracy assessments will be required for graduation. Students will follow the revised 2018 graduation curriculum implemented by the BC Ministry of Education. Literacy and numeracy assessments will be required for graduation.

Successful completion of the Accelerated Program meets the Columbia College admission requirements for the C.C. University transfer and Associate Degree program. The Accelerated Secondary Program is a non BC Ministry of Education Program. Please note that students who choose this path will not receive the BC Ministry of Education Dogwood Diploma.

This BC Ministry of Education program is for students over the age of 18 and provides a quicker route to graduation and university-level studies at Columbia College. Students receive a BC Adult Graduation Diploma (Adult Dogwood Diploma) upon completion of this program.

​
Tailored to each student’s needs, this program provides missing courses for students who have graduated from High School but lack the prerequisites for their university studies. It is normally a one semester program comprised of a maximum of four appropriate academic courses, which can be a combination of high school and university courses. Upon completion, students can proceed into Columbia College’s University Transfer program or Associate Degree programs.

An Associate Degree is equivalent to the first two years of a four-year university degree. With an Associate Degree, you can enter into the third year of a university’s Bachelor Degree program.

Three courses in Mathematics/Science including at least one course in Mathematics, Computer Science or Statistics and one course in a laboratory Science.

Twelve courses, including at least six at the second year level (in at least two different subject areas) in Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. This must include two courses in Social Sciences, two courses in Humanities other than English, and eight additional courses in Arts.

Post-graduate Work Permit Program (PGWPP)
Associate degree holders from Columbia College qualify for the Post-graduate work permit (PGWP) in Canada and can take the advantage of staying and working in the country after graduation. A work permit under PGWP program maybe issued for 12-36 months depending on the length of your study program.
University Transfer
Take up to 60 credits at first and second year level at Columbia College and then transfer those credits to any university in British Columbia and across Canada. You will graduate with a degree from the university to which you transferred.
British Columbia has the smoothest college-to-university transfer system in Canada. Advantages of studying at Columbia College’s university transfer program include:
